Recruiting |
Admission is more competitive each year as Dartmouth continues to draw the
top students from the best high schools. It looks like we will have a lot of good
candidates to interview in January and February. Anyone interested in helping with
the recruiting or interviewing should contact: |
| Scholarship Fund |
The Dartmouth Club of the Midwest has a long tradition of
supporting local students who attend Dartmouth through various scholarship
programs. There has been over $1.6 million granted to our regional scholars since the start of this program - entirely from income! Thanks to your efforts and generosity, our scholarship program remains the most successful in the history of Dartmouth. Read more about the fund and some profiles of recent recipients (visit Adobe if you cannot view the linked file). Please consider contributing to this special fund online, or via mail by printing out the form and mailing in a contribution. |
High School Book Award |
Dartmouth Club of the Midwest Book Awards Spring is upon us, and across the Upper Midwest, high schools are capping off their academic years with awards ceremonies. At nearly 30 local high schools, a member of the junior class will be honored with the Dartmouth Club Book Award. This award consists of a personalized hard-cover copy of a Dartmouth-related book ( The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse by Louise Erdrich '76, a Dartmouth alumna and Twin Cities resident/bookstore owner) and a classic green Dartmouth T-shirt. Each recipient is selected by his or her school's college counseling department using a series of criteria including demonstrated leadership within the classroom as well as throughout the community and strong personal character. In short, the honoree is possessed of that highest of qualities--being of Dartmouth material. The book award program is a great way to reach out to these outstanding high school students and the college counseling departments of the schools, and promote Dartmouth in a positive light. In order to defray the cost of presenting the awards, the club needs generous alumni/ae to sponsor the award at each high school. Though some high schools have special relationships with the club and allow an alumnus/a to present the award at the school's awards ceremony, most sponsors simply need to donate $40. If the sponsor would like to contact the recipient at a particular school to personally congratulate them, contact information is usually available. If you would like to help the club continue to offer this award, you can make a donation on the club's website or send a check for $40 to: DCMW PO Box 300551 Minneapolis, MN 55403 Please mention the Book Award with any form of payment. Throughout the year, the local alumni club organizes other
