How to Get a Forwarding “Email Address for Life” The Advantage All messages sent to you at your Dartmouth address can be forwarded to any email address you specify. So, for example, if you change your “normal” email address (e.g. you change jobs) you just update the forwarding instructions and anyone who has your Dartmouth email address will always be able to contact you. So no matter how many times you change jobs and/or “normal” email addresses your friends can find you. Also, using the Dartmouth address for internet subscriptions is especially useful in maintaining continuity if your situation changes. Step #1- Get your
personal Dartmouth password
First you need a
Dartmouth-assigned password? It may have been sent to you a long time ago but
undoubtedly you no longer have it. To re-obtain it send an email request
(from another account or from your web browser) to <help@alum.dartmouth.org> To
protect the security of your account you will be asked the following
information: 1.
Your name and class (for example: "Jane A. Doe, Tuck '75") 2.
The name of your secondary school 3.
Your undergraduate major 4.
Your Social Security number 5.
Your date of birth 6.
A phone number where you can be reached
if necessary (specify home or work) Step #2- Enter your forwarding information
About three business days later you should get your password. Then go to “updating your account” at http://www.alum.dartmouth.org/van/help/edit-entry.html Enter
your name followed by tu75 and your password and then click “View Directory
Entry.” For
example: name:
Jane Doe tu75 password:
122q046w Then
type in your forwarding email address. -------------------- Now
all messages sent to your Dartmouth email address will be forwarded to the
email address you that you specified. If you want to change forwarding
locations you just repeat step #2. |
