Tuck 1958 list server sign-up instructions

This banjo is very much like Adam’s.

It just goes to show he sometimes does something else than sit in front of his computer.

Subscribing to tuck-58 (the name of our list) is easy. Just send a one-line e-mail message to majordomo@dartmouth.edu. Put the following text in the message body (not the subject line in the header): subscribe tuck-58 (do not include quotation marks or any other special characters). As an illustration, this is what my subscription message looked like:

Date: Thu, 17 Sep 99 15:28:01 -0400
To: majordomo@dartmouth.edu
From: Adam Block <atblock@worldnet.att.net>
Subject: Subscribe

subscribe tuck-58

Please note it was not necessary to have any subject in the foregoing message. Be sure to type the one-line message body exactly as shown. Do not add or subtract any characters. The message body above contains exactly 13 lower-case alphabetic characters, two numeric characters, one space character, and one hyphen.

Assuming the Internet is working all right, you should receive an e-mail message like this within a few minutes:

Date: Thu, 17 Sep 99 19:33:22 +0000
To: atblock@worldnet.att.net
From: Majordomo@Dartmouth.EDU
Subject: Majordomo results: Subscribe
Reply-To: Majordomo@Dartmouth.EDU

To receive list postings, just check your e-mail.

The following may clarify a potentially confusing point. Postings to the list go to a different e-mail address than the one used for signing up. To send a note to the list, use the address tuck-58@dartmouth.edu.
